country & was stationed on a submarine in both San Diego, CA & Pearl Harbor, HI. He was honorably discharged in 1953 and returned to civilian life in Aurora where he met the love of his life, Barbara Phelps. The lure of California & the prospect of Uranium led him and a friend to the west coast. It wasn't long before he realized the best thing in his life was the girl back home. Bud returned to Aurora to his future bride. Their two hearts became one when they were married on September 1, 1956 at Kaneville United Methodist Church. They began their new life together back in his hometown of Aurora.

Fifteen years later in 1971, they returned to Kaneville. Bud and Barbara shared almost fifty years as husband and wife and thirty-four years as business partners in “Steamgard Carpet Cleaners”, their family business.  It began as an extension of Bud’s dry cleaning business, “Spotsgard”.  Barbara would become the managing partner at the heart of it all.  Barbara passed away in 2006.

Bud & Barbara loved to play Bridge with three other couples once a month for over forty years. Bud enjoyed fishing for walleye on his boat with his friends & family in Minnesota, Door County & Lake Geneva.  He loved spending time tending to his garden and woodworking. He and Barbara looked forward to every trip to Door County for fishing, shopping, and sightseeing at every opportunity. Bud appreciated a good glass of wine, good music and a good Western. Above all his family was the most important & he enjoyed attending all the events the grandchildren participated in. The collection of memories that he made over the years are the priceless gift he leaves his family.

Harold "Bud" Snyder passed from this life to eternal life in the early morning hours of Wednesday March 3, 2010 at Alden Estates of Naperville, IL.
