A few facts:

Approximately 90% of today's carpet production consists of man-made fibers. There are many desirable characteristics to these fibers, but many of them have been exaggerated by enthusiastic salesmen.

Carpets stay cleaner longer and wear longer

SOILGARD... the guard in STEAMGARD!

These fibers do not have the ability to "hide" soil as wool does. Consequently, these carpets show soil quickly. Additionally, many people attempt to clean their fast soiling carpets with do-it-yourself products, with the result that resoiling occurs even quicker. Because of these experiences they are very conscious of soiling and resoiling. The more soil you have in your carpets and the longer it is there will determine the life of your carpet.

How does the soil retardant spray work?

A spray form of application is used on new carpet

or carpet that has been steam cleaned. SOILGARD Soil Retardant Spray is formulated to include Du Pont's Ludox (Du Pont's name for colloidal sillica). The Ludox fills the crevices in each fiber, leaving no place for the soil to lodge. As long as the Ludox remains in the fiber, dry dirt and grit can be vacuumed away. As the carpet is used, the Ludox is broken down a little at a time and vacuumed away until it is totally removed, at which time recleaning and reapplication is needed.

What our soil retardant IS:

Tiny microscopic particles that look like clear marble. It is so small, that one drop of our soil retardant contains millions of particles. The particles are much smaller than the smallest partcicle of visible soil. It protects against all dry soil such as that coming out of heat ducts, and from foot traffic. It also protects against wear because it gives the fiber more body, which acts like a sizing in the fiber.

What our soil retardant is NOT:

It is not a water proofing nor a stain proofing agent. To accomplish waterproofing or stain proofing requires an oil based substance such as Scotchgard or Protosil. These of course, do not retard soil from foot traffic and, in fact, can attract it, because they are oil based. It is not a watered down product, used in most cases, to greatly increase profits on the job.
